Ihab Shahawi is the founder and former CEO of exited Caydan Capital portfolio Company The SAILS Group, Inc., an international agency committed to the quality of care, supervision and training of adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mr. Shahawi is also an investor and Board Member in current Caydan Capital’s investment in Patterns Behavior Health,Inc. An expert in his field, Ihab Shahawi has applied his learned business acumen to the assistance of developmentally and intellectually challenged individuals. The result has been a unique, scalable system and philosophy, as exemplified by the SAILS Group, yielding a 99 percent success rate among individuals placed. Success is measured by improvement in overall well being, reduction in inappropriate behavior, and an increase in skills and appropriate behavior. He believes that the system, if followed correctly and passionately, can work with almost everyone in the niche it serves. Mr. Shahawi is driven rather than deterred by difficulty, and has found success with some of the most behaviorally challenging individuals in the state of California. Prior to opening SAILS, Mr. Shahawi worked for several years in multiple different positions within the field of autism services, including direct care staff to management with I.A.B.A. (The Institute for Applied Behavior Analysis), consultative services as a QMRP (Qualified Mental Retardation Professional), and an Administrator of ICF-DD 6, 15 and 150-bed facilities for children, adults and the elderly. In 1984, Mr. Shahawi received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from U.C.L.A. after having completed his senior project in behavior modification with autistic children under the direction of Dr. Ivar Lovaas. In early 2002, Mr. Shahawi received his Masters of Arts in Psychology from Almeda University.
